Siemens in Saudi Arabia

Siemens Ltd. Saudi Arabia traces its beginnings back to the early 1930s, when visionary local businessmen first imported Siemens power generation equipment. This initial investment laid the foundation for the sophisticated power infrastructure found today in the country.

Countless pioneering projects attest to the partnership between the Kingdom and Siemens in shaping the future.

Prominent examples include Saudi Arabia's first nation-wide long-distance telecommunications network, installed in 1956; the first high-voltage substations and load dispatch centers for utilities; comprehensive security systems for oil fields; the country's first computed tomograph; and major installations for the Kingdom's cement, steel and petrochemical industries.

Siemens sent its first resident engineer to Saudi Arabia in 1952 to better serve the company's rapidly growing customer base here. A decade later, E.A. Juffali & Brothers and Siemens set up an agency which still is the cornerstone of a successful partnership. In 1976, Arabia Electric Ltd. (AEL) was founded as a joint venture between Juffali and Siemens to provide engineering solutions and services to customers.

With the founding of Siemens Ltd. in 1999, Siemens and Juffali strengthened their commitment to excel not only as a network and solutions provider but also as a preferred partner for their customers and a sought-after employer in Saudi Arabia.

In addition to apprenticeship programs for young Saudis, Siemens offers a variety of training and familiarization sessions for its customers.

The company has linked people and businesses with its cutting-edge IT products and solutions; made power generation and distribution more efficient and intelligent; increased productivity by creating innovative solutions for industry and automation; and helped optimize patient care with innovative devices, systems and solutions in the health care field.
