Siemens announced the completion of Phase I of the Mashaaer Mugaddassah Metro Project (MMMP), a rail transportation solution enabling pilgrims to significantly reduce their travel times between the holy sites during Hajj. Siemens delivered the entire power supply system, the traction substations and the overhead cable system.
Siemens has been selected to provide demineralization equipment and condensate polishing systems for the new Marafiq Yanbu power plant in Yanbu. The new plant will enable Marafiq to increase its power generation capacity and thus improve service to industries based in the cities of Yanbu and Jubail.
Siemens Energy Transmission in collaboration with an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction company successfully energized the world's largest transmission substation in the Riyadh region at Power Plant - 10. Siemens supplied much of the substation equipment and was responsible for the installation, testing & commissioning.
Siemens Oil & Gas has secured an order for the supply of compressor trains and steam turbines for the Wasit Gas Plant with the oil unit, seal gas system, condensing unit and capital spares.
Siemens Fossil Power Generation has received an order to supply the components for the Ras Al Khair combined cycle power plant with an associated seawater desalination facility. Siemens will supply twelve gas turbines, ten heat-recovery steam generators, five steam turbines, and the associated auxiliary and ancillary systems. The order volume for Siemens is more than USD1 billion, making it one the largest orders posted by Siemens Energy in the Middle East. Commercial operation is scheduled to commence early in 2014.
Siemens Healthcare announced a two-year mobile breast screening program throughout the Middle East region, held under the patronage of the Ministry of Health. The Siemens screening unit was based in Jeddah for three months, providing free breast screening services to women throughout the country. During the campaign, around 1,200 women were screened for breast cancer.
Siemens Healthcare implemented a turnkey project for the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Jeddah. The renovation and upgrade of the entire radiology department required various Siemens medical products, systems and solutions that have enabled the hospital to optimize its workflows and improve the efficiency and quality of patient care.
